From 1959 to 1965, Eduard Heijmans created material paintings (mixed media). He used many types of materials including rope, fishing net, cork, sand, shells, and whale bones. With this series of paintings Eduard Heijmans achieved both national and international success. A number of the works were acquired by various museums, businesses and private individuals.
